The Murfreesboro Police Department is a full service organization. We take very seriously our duty to protect and serve our community. We as a department, strive not only to enforce the laws of the State of North Carolina, but also to help our citizens with problems such as questions they may have and with community improvement and quality of life issues.

This department is committed to the concept of community policing. We approach this concept with an open mind. In doing this we are able to tailor our actions to better fit the needs of our community. One of the most important aspects of our dedication to community policing is our open door policy. Any time a citizen has a concern or complaint, we will sit down with them and discuss the situation. We have found that this personalized approach benefits the department and the citizens we serve.

This department is also dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of training and professionalism. We strive as an organization to continually train oursevles to be the best public servants possible. We are constant in our dedication to maintain both a professional appearance in our dress, and a professional attitude toward the public.

The Murfreesboro Police Department is comprised of ten full time officers and four part-time officers. In addition, we have four full-time telecommunicators and four part-time telecommunicators. This allows us to have twenty-four hour a day coverage to protect our citizens.

The Murfreesboro Police Department continually upgrades the equipment needed to carry out our duties in a professional manner. In the last year we have been very successful in our attempts at maintaing the very best of equipment. As an example, we have installed the latest in car video taping equipment in our patrol cars.

We as a department are very proactive in our approach to maintaining the high standards we have set for ourselves. We are continually trying to upgrade all aspects of the department to better serve you, the citizen. We understand that this is a job that is never finished, but we are motivated to continue to strive to be even better.

Please feel free to contact me or my staff at anytime. We are here for you. And we are dedicated to you and our service.

The Murfreesboro Police Department is also very active in working in a coordinated manner with all other local and state law enforcement agencies in our area. These agencies include, but are not limited taut Hertford County Sheriff's Office, The Roanoke-Chowan Drug Task Force, the Ahoskie Police Department, The North Carolina Highway Patrol, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the Chowan College Police Department.
This Department has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to illegal narcotics and we work hand in hand with our sister agencies to insure that the citizens and visitors to Murfreesboro can feel and be safe, while in our charge.
